While no one wants to think about the inevitable end of life, more and more people are planning their final arrangements in advance. This is a generous thing to do, in that it affords loved ones a respite, relieving them of the responsibility of planning a funeral when they are already in a stressful time of grief. However, advanced planning is more than just a nice gesture for those you leave behind. People who plan ahead can design custom funerals to memorialise their lives in the way they wish, and can add special touches that result in truly bespoke funerals.

What is Involved in Planning Tailored funerals?

In a way, custom funerals are not new. People have always had funerals that reflect their own religious and cultural values, led by an officiant meaningful to the person who has died, and involving people who were important in the person’s life, with songs and readings significant to the person being memorialised. Today, though, you can take your planning to another level. In addition to choosing between cremation and burial, you can choose green burial, in a woodland setting. Beyond that, you can add elements that reflect your interests and hobbies, and make the funeral truly reflect who you were as a person.

Bridgwater’s Bespoke Offerings

Bridgwater offers services in our private chapel of rest, or you can choose to have your service elsewhere. If you choose a green burial, you can choose to have your service in the scenic setting in which you will be laid to rest. You can choose your minister/celebrant, or we will provide one. We can also provide four bearers, if needed.

If you choose to be cremated, we have several options available for you. You can have a direct cremation, preceded by viewing in the chapel of rest, but without a service to be attended. Your ashes will be returned to your loved ones, for disbursement as you have directed. We also offer burial of ashes, if you prefer to have them interred.

If you plan to have a funeral, we have several different options for the various elements of your service and burial. Our selection of coffins is extensive, with everything from simple cardboard/eco coffins, to a variety of oak coffins to hand-crafted wicker coffins, and even colourful coffins , designed to truly reflect your individuality. For the final ride to your place of rest, we can provide a beautiful black hearse, but we also have more unique options.

Would a motorcycle with a side car more accurately represent your personality? How about a horse drawn hearse? And, of course, we offer limousines for your loved ones, so that they can ride to your resting place in comfort.
